after effects over-view

the footage we used for the clip were ok for what we needed them for however if we were shooting for finished production the footage would have been a lot more better like one piece of footage we filmed was with out a tripod so the camera was all over place. however the pieces of footage were not shaking as much.

the after effects them selves were good however was very stressful and took longer then hey should have done trying to mask the fingers on top of the fingers to have the light come from behind it, it was perfect and if i had more time i would have changed a lot.

also the fact we spend a lot of time masking meant we couldn't spend more time other effects or other footage for that matter.
But with these personal problems happening i still feel that our group can easily preform the look needed for the shots.
also the assets and effects we are using are great pieces, i just believe it's a matter of patience and getting it right.

180 degree rule- shot blocking

the 180 degree line is based from the action line from where the camera is based, so from the first shot postion the camera has to stay on that side to make the scene make sense because if it swapped side it would appear that the characters have swapped postions and confuse the audience.

18.11.2013
Present :  Will Sharp , Chris Yarwood and sam Clenaghan

We have chosen to use sam's screenplay, due to it being a nice simply piece that's easily do able, the story needed a bit of change due to it being generic however its more about the after effects and post production it's not too important, so the dull atmosphere isn't a huge problem on the list.
The screenplay we chose has a range of impressive effects, like mind control and super strength. The feasibility of the project is easily manageable due to only needing 2 or 3 speaking actors  and an older male for head teacher.
the run time should be a solid 3 minutes and is all shot at college.

x-men sound timetable

the 4 sound elements:

Music -

Times: 00:00-01:32

Notes: The music plays throughout the clip from 00:00 til 01:32 however is quieter during important dialogue or voice overs.
near the end at 01:28 the music seems to stop for dramatic line however it is just very quiet then it builds up for next scene at 01:30 .

Voice-over -

Times: 00.07-00:11, 00:15-00:54, 01:17-01:28

The voice-over is played through out the scene to explain things around the class without using dialogue or visual shots like explaining purpose and back ground of school.
professor X (the voice-over)  isn't seen except from the beginning so it shows he is a voice-over due to him not being seen through out, through the power of the voice-over we get direct information about characters and the story, music is quieter when its spoken and no dialogue is used to avoid confusion.

Dialogue -

Times: 00:04-00:06, 00:12-00.18, 01:06-01:10, 01:12-01:17

the first piece of dialogue used in the clip is when wolverine asks about the school, this is used to set off the montage and reveal the school information and story so it's effectively used to get the ball rolling.

Sound Effects -

Times: 00:06-00:14, 00:22-00:30, 00:46-00:50, 00:56-01:00, 01:04-01:06, 01:10-01:18, 01:28-01:32

dialogue- Misfits opening

NATHAN

the purpose of the opening scene dialogue is to introduce the characters to the audience and show off their personalities.
also the opening dialogue starts the narrative to the story, who the they are and what is going on etc, the characters backgrounds are shoen in the being dialogue via accent, mood, vocab.
another set of things the purpose of the opening achieves is just generally entertaining the audience whilst giving the other information and lastly it sets the genre of the series through it's humor.

Nathan's dialogue from the very start sets the atmosphere of Nathan's personality of being very cocky and the joker of the group and he also sets himself up to be comedy element of the group, he also brings a tone to himself via his sarcasm and immaturity to seem a bit full on and makes himself well heard and is very loud, i think this shows to his personality that he finds it easier to set up a defense people to not wanting to be friends with him so he isn't let down by them, giving no one a chance to get to know him and it leads gim to be very lonely.
i believe that Nathan doesn't have a certain class element to him i think he is classes because of his confidence, i feel that he could talk to any one with his mocking tone and attitude.
also Nathan has an Irish accent which isn't the biggest element to his personality however his voice its self is rather melodic and friendly so everyone takes insults lightly and give him the benefit of the doubt.

KELLY

Kelly's dialogue shows off her having aggressive tone and a soft spot of being insulting eg. after Curtis implies he cant work with these people she takes it personally and responds aggressively.
Kelly's accent with the opening dialogue gives off the impression that she is 'chav' so this gives the audience the effect of believing that she will be protective and generally aggressive in her manner and will also not take any stick from any one however its not shown in a direct way that she is violent but she making it clear that she won't be pushed around and will lead to violence if necessary.
also her volume plays a part of showing her personality because during the clip she doesn't get involved with the argument or she doesn't engage with any one until she thinks someone is judging and insulting her.
that shows she is more looking out for number 1 and only gets involved when it involves her.

SIMON

Simon's dialogue in the scene is non at all which shows him off to be shy and have an inverted personality trying to keep to himself, he doesn't seem like he has a specif working class  or background just a neutral accent or region.
there isn't much to say about Simon expect that he is shy and clearly has social issues but apart from that he is a mystery.

CURTIS

Curtis' dialogue represent him to be up himself and think he's better than anyone there. he also has a lack of element to care due to the enthusiasm in his voice and generally lacks any motive to want to know these people.
showing his personality to think he's better than all of them and could be somewhere else, doing something else.
i think this tone he gives off makes he think a higher person so he could be a higher class than them not necessary high class just better than others or maybe he thinks he could lead a life to a higher class of people.

GARY
Gary's dialogue is extremely aggressively and violent and he uses threats from the moment he speaks and i believe all he uses is threats mainly through out this clip.
also Gary might be seen as 'chav' just like Kelly and there personalities are rather alike expect Kelly
is smart enough not to come out with direct threats to people, Gary just lets it all out with full volume to defend himself against Nathan insulting however fails by adding to the fire and Gary becomes more violent.
also due to his lack of vocab and diplomacy i would recon that Gary is from a lower class.
also Gary's attitude possibly shows off that he isn't that violent or could preform any level of violence, i believe that he's just trying to seem strong and violent so he's not messed with.

ALEISHA

Aleisha's Dialogue gives off the tone that she sees everyone as a joke and she could be a million other places and she likes to look under people by laughing at them she does multiple times during the opening when Nathan makes fun of the probation worker she laughs at him and she laughs later on at Nathan and Gary fighting.
i see that aleisha makes people feel small and wants them to know that she is doing it.
also the attitude of her being on the phone to mates shows she has lack of care of the people she is around and these people and just as boring and as ordinary as anyone else in this world and uses them to entertain herself.

Sound effects analysis-Drive

The purpose of the sound effects in the clip is too set the tone of the movie to know it's a intense action-drama withed with suspense also the purpose of the clip is too entertain the audience by putting them on their seats through tension  and it sets the genre of the movie through the tension that's build in the clip.
an atmosphere is created through the scene by sound effects to create suspense.

the scene is about a getaway driver (Ryan Gosling) who is on a job to get two guys out of a heist quickly, he has a strict rule to only wait 5 mins to get them out of the cop radar and he will leave if they dont get there in time.

The ticking watch is constant reminder that time is going by and the two burglars may be left behind and that the police will respond soon, this creates suspense because its a reminder to the viewer that it will get action backed by the time the ticking has stop either they would have got away or the police will after them so we are pulled in to know if they will escape. the watch is abnormally loud to be empathise that time is a huge factor here.

The radio creates a feeling that Gosling has the situation under control and that he's a profesional because he isn't stressing out or looking worried also the radio gives elements of later plans in the film to do with escape also it shows motive.

The police radio is source of information of police activity so we now that they are responding so they may soon be on Gosling and his team, so it gives us updated on how much 'the enemy' knows, so we wait to see their move.

and lastly the environment sounds play a good part here from things like the engine being displayed louder than normal to remind the audience Gosling's role here is the most important, to get away and other sounds like police sirens bring more tension because we as the audience know that's near by and catch the getaway car.

one last element to the mixing of the sound of the clip is the volume of specific sounds like the watch ticking to the music. eg. the watch ticks loudest from most things in the clip from the moment it sets off and another sound is the music the way it starts as its normal volume during Gosling driving then once he stops the vehicle and waits for the robbers it becomes quieter but keeping the same base like a heart beat, the music reflects Gosling because it gets quieter when he's focusing and his heart beat becomes more defined, and through that it creates loads of tension because we do the same as Gosling and concrete with him and listen and watch for the details making ready for the next move.
one last piece of sound to create suspense would be the sound of the door being opened and door open siren/alarm playing because its the sound of Gosling and robber 1 waiting for robber 2, the sound of the door being open makes him seem much longer then he is actually taking.
